Diana Magnay is a British broadcast journalist and international correspondent based in London. She has covered international affairs for Sky News, CNN and Channel 4 News including the Arab Spring, the war in Ukraine and numerous deployments to Russia.

Until 2024 she was Moscow correspondent for Sky News, reporting on Russia and its neighbours, and international stories across Europe and Asia. Before joining Sky in January 2018, she reported for CNN for more than a decade across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

She led CNN’s breaking news coverage on a range of stories from the political crisis in Ukraine and Russia’s annexation of Crimea to the release of Khodorkovsky and Pussy Riot in Russia, the massacre in Utoya, Norway and austerity-related protests in Greece.

Diana started off with CNN in London as a production assistant in January 2001. She has produced all of CNN’s flagship international news and business programmes during major news events such as the Iraq War, the Tsunami and the London bombings in July 2005. As a field producer, major news stories she has covered include the war in Georgia in August 2008 and G8 Heiligendamm.

She also worked freelance for Channel 4 News in their foreign affairs unit while completing a master’s in War Studies at King’s College London for which she won the Director’s Prize for International Peace and Security.

Diana attended Winchester House School (WHS) from 1983 to 1990. She started at WHS in 1983 at the age of 7. On leaving Winchester House in 1990 after seven years, Diana went to Wycombe Abbey before studying Modern History at St Hugh’s College, Oxford. She pursued a master’s degree in International Peace and Security at the War Studies Department at Kings College London.

She is fluent in English, German and French.

Or that at least is what stuck in my head (a little cookery at that early age might actually have done me the world of good).”
