Angharad Reed Biography – Angharad Reed Wiki

Angharad Reed, a talented Welsh potter and ceramic artist, is set to compete in the 2026 edition of The Great Pottery Throw Down. She is the creative force behind Crock-Â-Shwt, a boutique pottery brand based in Cardiff, South Wales, where she crafts unique stoneware ceramics. Her venture into pottery was driven by her passion for both illustration and working with clay.

Angharad is known for her use of vibrant colors and striking graphic imagery, creating pieces that narrate stories and highlight contemporary ceramic surface design. After years of honing her craft, she has embraced sgraffito—a technique that involves scratching the surface of the clay—as her signature style. The term “sgraffito” is derived from the Italian word for “scratched.”

The name Crock-Â-Shwt reflects Angharad’s deep connection to her Welsh roots and family history. ‘Shwt’ is the name of a quaint village in South Wales, where her great-grandparents once owned a farm. Her great-grandmother, Winnie Watkins, was known for adorning her garden walls with vibrant shards of broken pottery, a tradition that continues to inspire Angharad’s work.

As a dedicated member of South Wales Potters (SWP), Angharad is part of one of the UK’s largest communities of professional and amateur potters, boasting over 350 members. Interestingly, she shares this affiliation with Bill Rolls, another contestant from the same series of The Great Pottery Throw Down.
