Rhoda Magbitang holds the esteemed position of Executive Chef at CanoeHouse, located within the Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection in Hawaii. Before this role, she showcased her culinary expertise at several prestigious hotels, including the Petit Ermitage, Chateau Marmont, and The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern. Now, the Antipolo-born chef is competing on the 2026 season of Top Chef.
Growing up as the eldest of six children in the Philippines, Rhoda’s passion for cooking was ignited in her family’s kitchen. She was inspired by her grandmother’s food stall and the traditional Filipino cuisine she was taught to prepare from a young age. With household chores divided among the family, Rhoda chose to take charge of cooking, a role she embraced wholeheartedly.
At 17, Rhoda relocated to the United States, where she initially pursued a career in early childhood education. However, her passion for cooking led her to enroll at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, California, to hone her culinary skills.
Throughout her career, Rhoda has worked in some of the nation’s most acclaimed kitchens, including the Michelin-starred Mélisse, Suzanne Goin’s A.O.C., République, and Bazaar by José Andrés. Her role as Executive Chef at Chateau Marmont marked a significant milestone, followed by her leadership at The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, Auberge Collection, where she earned recognition from the Michelin Guide.
Currently, Rhoda is the first female Executive Chef at CanoeHouse at Mauna Lani, Auberge Collection. She is renowned for her innovative approach to Hawaiian Regional cuisine, infusing Japanese-inspired techniques with modern Hawaiian flavors. Her dedication to sustainability and seasonality remains a cornerstone of her culinary philosophy.

Rhoda Magbitang is a contestant on Top Chef Season 23 on Bravo. The series sees host Kristen Kish, head judge Tom Colicchio and perennial judge Gail Simmons venture south to the Carolinas! Season 23 is centered in the emerging and eclectic culinary hub of Charlotte, N.C., with several episodes in Greenville, S.C.
For the first time in Top Chef history, the Season 23 contestants include life partners, Jennifer Lee Jackson and Justin Tootla, who co-own and operate a restaurant, as well as a pair of highly competitive identical twin brothers, Jonathan and Brandon Dearden.
