Bill Rolls, a gifted ceramic artist, is making waves as a contestant on the 2026 season of The Great Pottery Throw Down. He owns Bill Rolls Ceramics, a thriving business in Herefordshire that specializes in mocha diffused pottery and whimsical dog sculptures. Besides his artistic ventures, Bill dedicates time to volunteering as a teaching assistant.
His passion for ceramics ignited during his teenage years. Pursuing this interest, Bill attended Hereford College, where he delved deeply into ceramics, earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Contemporary Crafts. He chose to remain in Hereford post-graduation, setting up his studio amidst the town’s lively and supportive art scene.
Bill has been honing his pottery skills for several years under the mentorship of Melanie Brown and Dylan Bowen, focusing on form and slip finishing techniques, respectively. Additionally, John Huggins has played a crucial role in guiding him to create larger pots, perfect for garden use.
Exhibitions
His work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions. In 2023, Bill’s creations were featured at notable events such as Malvern Spring, Bucks Art Weeks, Three Choirs Gloucester, Malvern Autumn, Pots in the Pens Melton Mowbray, Winter Market at Three Pools, Wye Valley Makers Market, and Christmas at the Silver Workshop.
The following year, in 2024, he continued to showcase his artistry at venues including the Malvern Spring, Bucks Art Weeks, Three Choirs Worcester, Hereford Indie Food Festival, Herefordshire Art Weeks, Malvern Autumn Show, Pots in the Pens Melton Mowbray, and Ledbury Christmas Market. His work was also part of the Dore Abbey Arts exhibition in 2025.
