Months ago, rumors swirled around the NBA that Giannis Antetokounmpo might be on the move. While the league has seen a few notable changes—Kevin Durant joining the Houston Rockets, Damian Lillard being waived, and Bradley Beal signing with the LA Clippers—the overall offseason has been relatively uneventful.

That quiet stretch stands in contrast to the bold forecast made earlier by NBA insider Shams Charania. Back in May, during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Charania confidently predicted a chaotic offseason filled with dramatic moves.

“This is the most anticipation team executives have had over an offseason,” said Shams.
“I think this offseason might be the most craziest ever [sic]. Because I think what you have right now is—the parity of the league, it’s so thin right now. As far as the line of, you could win a championship, or you might be falling into the lottery. And I think the ability to go out there and improve your team and get there to the championship level, I think that’s on the minds of everyone around the league.”

That prediction, however, hasn’t aged well—and Draymond Green noticed. The Golden State Warriors forward took to Threads on Monday, posting a string of laughing emojis as a subtle jab aimed at Shams and his off-the-mark prediction.

Warriors Stay Quiet This Summer

Green’s reaction may be rooted in his own team’s underwhelming activity this summer. The Golden State Warriors haven’t made any major splashes despite ongoing speculation.

The biggest question mark remains Jonathan Kuminga. The young forward, now a restricted free agent, reportedly declined the Warriors’ initial contract proposal. While Golden State is open to a sign-and-trade deal, no strong suitors have emerged. As a result, Kuminga might end up staying with the team for now, with potential trade talks reigniting closer to the deadline.

The addition of Jimmy Butler had initially sparked hope that the Warriors were gearing up for another title push. However, their failure to add further depth could prove costly in a Western Conference packed with talent.

As long as Stephen Curry remains healthy, the Warriors will be in the mix. But given his injury history, it’s clear his teammates will need to shoulder more of the load moving forward.
