The Rock could be making a blockbuster return to WWE, according to recent reports. The Brahma Bull was last seen alongside John Cena at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, standing over a battered Cody Rhodes. While fans anticipated a major role for him during Cena’s heel run, nothing ultimately materialized.
He did not appear at WrestleMania 41 and remained absent throughout the remainder of Cena’s storyline as an on-screen villain, leading many to believe he might be stepping away from WWE indefinitely.
However, the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) suggests that The People’s Champion could be back — potentially headlining a major Premium Live Event. Saudi General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh recently hinted at a massive event coming to Saudi Arabia in 2027, following the Royal Rumble in 2026.
WON reported that there is speculation the event could be WrestleMania, with strong interest in having Dwayne Johnson headline. While Al-Sheikh has not confirmed which event it will be, Saudi Arabia has reportedly been pushing for a WrestleMania and may be willing to pay a significant fee to host it.

If WrestleMania were to take place in Saudi Arabia, WWE would likely go all-out, as it has for past shows in the region, showcasing its top talent. Given The Rock’s global popularity, his return for such an event would be far from surprising. WON also noted discussions about the possibility of having two WrestleManias in one year, with Saudi Arabia and London both in contention.
The Rock’s Previously Discussed Surprise Title Change
The Netflix docuseries WWE: Unreal revealed behind-the-scenes details on how the promotion built its storylines from Royal Rumble to WrestleMania earlier this year. In one episode, The Rock and his team were involved in creative discussions for the Elimination Chamber.
Former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz, now part of The Rock’s production company, shared that the original plan mirrored what fans saw, with The Rock offering Cody Rhodes a spot by his side — an offer Rhodes would decline.
However, instead of John Cena’s heel turn, the plan initially called for The Rock to announce an impromptu title match between Rhodes and Kevin Owens, resulting in Owens becoming the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
This idea was ultimately scrapped due to concerns about changing the championship so close to WrestleMania.
