The music world mourns the loss of acclaimed solo artist Ernie Fields Jr., who passed away on March 8, 2024. Known for his exceptional skills as a baritone saxophonist, he was among the most gifted musicians in the industry.

After completing his high school education at Booker T. Washington High School in 1951, Ernie pursued further studies at Howard University. It was during his time here that he seized the opportunity to perform in his father’s band, especially during school breaks.
