Tupac Shakur Murder Trial
Judge Carli Kierny is presiding over the trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who is accused of orchestrating the killing of rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996. Davis, a one-time leader of the South Side Compton Crips gang, was arrested in Sept. 2023 and charged with murder with the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang. He has been in custody ever since.
Davis is the only person ever charged in connection with Shakur’s death. Judge Kierny has ruled the jury will be able to hear about the book Davis published and his previous police interviews. He has pleaded not guilty.
