Francesca Dourado is a ceramicist, make up artist and contestant on The Great Pottery Throw Down 2025.
Francesca’s love of crafts started from a young age and she enjoyed pottery, woodwork, painting and printmaking. This led her to study fashion design, then make up and prosthetics. However, it was during a visit to her mum in India when she joined a local pottery course that her passion for clay was re-kindled and she has never looked back.
After travelling all over the world, Francesca has recently settled in Bristol with her chef fiancé David, but they are always on the look out for their next adventure.

Francesca Dourado is one of the contestants on Series 8 of The Great Pottery Throw Down, hosted by Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney. The show follows 12 UK pottery artists as they aim to show off their grand artistic designs and fight to be crowned champion of the show. The show is judged by Keith Brymer Jones and Richard Miller.
Francesca announced the news on Instagram, writing: “I’m part of The Great Pottery Throw Down Season 8! Being able to create in the @potterythrow studio has been more than a milestone—it’s a life achievement I dreamed about and didn’t think possible.
“To say I’m thrilled to join the incredible Season 8 family is definitely an understatement! Being surrounded by 11 talented potters who share this passion feels absolutely surreal. I’m so thrilled to have a pottery family for life.
“Thank you to the whole production team, you’re all incredible and I’ll never be able to say thank you enough! To everyone who’s supported me on my clay journey THANK YOU. I wouldn’t be here without you cheering me on! I’m so excited for you all to follow along as this magical season unfolds.”
She added: “Creativity knows no boundaries, and being able to bring my culture and heritage to the world of pottery has been a huge honor. As someone from a South Asian community, I hope my journey inspires others from similar backgrounds to pursue their passions, no matter how big or small.”
