Twomey discussed how he had to be “careful” as an openly gay man when working on Bosco in the 1980s in a 2020 interview with RTÉ Lifestyle.
“They were aware. It was from a different age, which is why I was terrified of it. Not only had same-sex marriage not yet been legalized, but we’re talking about the 1980s,” he revealed.
However, it didn’t make me any less gay. Because I worked for the government, it meant that I had to exercise extreme caution and discretion.”
