Gary Shapiro Biography
Gary Shapiro is an American journalist who is working as an Anchor at 9News in Denver, Colorado. He joined the station in 1983 as a Boulder Bureau Reporter. He was later promoted to anchor in 1989. Besides his anchoring and reporting duties at 9News, he has produced a number of TV specials and documentaries.
Shapiro did an in-depth report on the Five Points neighborhood in Denver and also produced a behind-the-scenes look at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards including Emmys, Best Gannett, and awards from Colorado Broadcaster’s Association.
Born in Nebraska, he earned his degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Nebraska. He furthered his education and attended Iowa State University where he attained his Master of Science in Mass Communications. His career has taken him to many parts of the world covering significant stories.
