Omid Scobie, co-author of the widely acclaimed biography “Finding Freedom” detailing the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, finds himself embroiled in a scandal concerning racism within the royal family.

Scobie, a royal correspondent for US Weekly and Harper’s Bazaar of Persian descent disclosed that he personally encountered racial bias from certain royal aides.

Even more alarming, he asserts knowledge of the identity of a senior royal who purportedly made racist remarks about the couple’s son, Archie, before his birth.

The explosive nature of these allegations has reignited discussions about diversity and inclusion within the monarchy, shedding light on the challenges faced by individuals of diverse backgrounds within the royal establishment.

As the controversy unfolds, it raises pertinent questions about the royal family’s commitment to addressing issues of racial sensitivity and discrimination.

Is Omid Scobie Racist? Rumors Explained

The rumors that Scobie is racist stem from a blunder in the Dutch edition of his book, Endgame, which is an updated version of Finding Freedom with a new epilogue.

In the book, Scobie and his co-author Carolyn Durand named Princess Anne and Prince Andrew as the two royals who had raised concerns about Archie’s skin color, a claim that was widely reported by the media.

However, Scobie later denied naming them and said it was a mistranslation by the Dutch publisher.

He also said that neither he nor Meghan ever said that the comments were racist, but rather “concerns or conversations” that Harry found uncomfortable.

Scobie’s denial did not convince everyone, especially Piers Morgan, who accused him of lying and being a “mouthpiece” for Meghan.

Morgan also claimed that he had sources who confirmed that Anne and Andrew were indeed the ones who made the remarks.

Morgan wrote in his Daily Mail column: “I know this because sources confirm to me that Scobie has repeated it to several people privately.”

Morgan also challenged Scobie to sue him if he was wrong.

Omid Scobie Scandal And Controversy Details

Scobie’s scandal has caused a rift among royal watchers and journalists, some of whom have defended him and others who have criticized him.

Omid has also faced backlash from some royal fans who accused him of being biased and spreading misinformation about the royal family.

Scobie has maintained that his book is based on extensive research and interviews with sources close to Harry and Meghan, as well as other royals and palace insiders.

He has also said that he respects the royal family and does not intend to harm them. Scobie appeared on ITV’s This Morning on Wednesday to talk about his book and address the controversy.

He said that he was not afraid of legal action from the royals or Morgan and that he stood by his reporting.

He also said that he hoped that his book would shed light on the issues that Harry and Meghan faced within the institution and why they decided to leave.

He said: “I think what we tried to do with this book is really humanize them in a way that perhaps people can understand why they made certain decisions.”
