Anthony, his younger brother Saman Anthony, and a friend were hospitalized in Anuradhapura after their vehicle collided with a wild elephant in Thalawa.

The incident happened as he was driving back from shooting the movie Singhabahu, directed by Dr. Somaratne Dissanayake, in his own vehicle.

After the accident, Anthony was first taken to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital on the same day and then to the Emergency Department of Colombo National Hospital on the morning of July 3.

The prominent figure in the Sri Lankan showbiz industry was getting treatment, and everyone was wising him for a speedy recovery, but sadly, he passed away on October 9, 2023.
