Jax Taylor has parted ways with his Los Angeles bar.
The announcement came on Saturday, July 26, after observant fans noticed something peculiar with Jax’s Studio City — the sports bar Jax launched less than two years ago. According to TMZ, the bar’s signage was apparently taken down over the weekend, leading to a flurry of speculation, theories, and rumors about a possible shutdown. Jax addressed the situation on Instagram, stating he had disassociated himself from the bar named after him.
“I’ve decided to terminate my partnership with Jax’s,” he conveyed. “The decision wasn’t simple, but it was the right one for me. My current priority is my sobriety and mental health, and maintaining my relationship with the bar does not align with the goals I’ve set for myself and the lifestyle I aim to lead.”

The announcement was consistent with a prior statement from Jax’s spokesperson, who informed TMZ that this move was “a thoughtfully considered and essential decision to focus on [Jax’s] sobriety and mental wellness.”
How was Brittany Cartwright involved in Jax’s Studio City bar?
The former SUR bartender announced the bar in an August 3 episode of When Reality Hits, stating that his now-estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, was assisting with the renovation.
“I know in the past I said that owning a bar is basically a marriage killer, but the difference is [Brittany is] involved just as much as I am,” he said. “We have 100% say in what is going on, and she is doing the decorating.”
Fortunately for Jax and Brittany, the bar didn’t require major structural changes, as it was previously used as a cocktail lounge. Brittany updated the space with vibrant wallpaper, bold art pieces, dramatic light fixtures, and more.
“We were able to just take it over and change the way it looks,” Brittany told People magazine. “It’s a little upscale boujee with the palm leaves [on the walls]. I wanted it to be very green. Because of Bravo, a lot of women will be coming in here, so we wanted it to be inviting for women and for men.”
The Valley mom also left her mark on the bar menu, which included her famous Mamaw’s Beer Cheese and “Brittany’s Sweet Tea.”

Although her name wasn’t on the building, Brittany emphasized that the bar also belonged to her.
“[Jax] said [owning a bar is hard on relationships] many times, and it has freaked me out ever since this project came to be a possibility for us,” she said on the podcast. “It is called Jax’s, but it is mine too. And you are not going to be there 24/7. It is going to be kid-friendly during the day.”
Jax Taylor reveals how much money he invested in his sports bar
Jax officially launched the business in October 2023 in partnership with neighboring establishment Rocco’s Tavern. He shed more light on the venture in The Valley Season 1, Episode 3, revealing that he didn’t invest any money into the bar.
“I’m very fortunate to where I don’t have to put up a bunch of money; I have three partners that are footing the bill,” he said. “I personally haven’t invested anything.”
It’s unclear if the bar will continue without Jax’s involvement, get rebranded, or close down altogether.
Jax Taylor announces he’s exiting The Valley after Season 2
The Jax’s Studio City news came less than two weeks after Jax announced his exit from The Valley. The Michigan native, who shares a 4-year-old son with Brittany, said he would not return for Season 3, as he wanted to focus on coparenting and his overall well-being.
“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” he said in a statement. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself – especially for our son, Cruz.”
