Jaxson Dart is preparing for his first NFL season with the New York Giants, and while the rookie quarterback isn’t expected to start right away, he’s already being viewed as a cornerstone of the franchise’s future.
During a recent appearance on the Up & Adams show, Dart spoke about several teammates who have caught his attention during training camp.
“I already knew Abdul (Carter) was the real deal,” Dart said Tuesday. “I faced him in college and was telling everyone in our meetings that he was one of the best defenders I’d ever gone up against. Now having him on my side, it’s been awesome.”
Dart also highlighted his bond with rookie running back Cam Skattebo.
“Cam’s my locker neighbor,” Dart continued. “He brings insane energy every day. Whether it’s drills, workouts, or walkthroughs, the guy’s always locked in and brings life to the locker room.”
He didn’t stop there. Dart praised undrafted wide receiver Dalen Cambre, who’s been quietly making a name for himself.
“Dalen’s one of those guys you can always count on,” Dart said. “He’s come in, done his job at a really high level, and he’s earning respect across the board. UDFA or not, he plays like a pro.”
The Giants selected linebacker Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick in April, followed by Jaxson Dart later in the first round. They added Skattebo in the fourth round and brought in Cambre as an undrafted free agent.
With a youth movement underway, all eyes will be on how this rookie class contributes during the 2025 season.

Dart also offered insight into how he plans to handle his transition to the pros, emphasizing his desire to maintain a dynamic, instinct-driven play style.
“I don’t want to be robotic out there,” Dart said Sunday in an interview with NFL.com. “That’s never been who I am. I want to stay aggressive in every situation, but also smart. In our quarterback room, we talk a lot about ‘being aggressive but not reckless.’ When there’s a chance to land the knockout punch, you take it—but you’ve got to know when to pull back, too.”
While veteran Russell Wilson is expected to open the season as the starter, Dart will be in the mix to serve as the primary backup alongside fellow veteran Jameis Winston.
The Giants will kick off the 2025 NFL season on September 7 with a road game against the Washington Commanders.
