Kimora Lee Simmons is speaking out alongside her daughter, Aoki Lee Simmons, who took to Instagram on Monday (Jun. 19) to discuss her strained relationship with her dad, Russell Simmons. The fashion mogul gave more insight into what many viewed as a beautiful co-parenting relationship in a now-deleted Instagram Live video.

Kimora revealed her ex-husband did not attend either of his daughter’s college graduations despite posting pictures and video clips that honored the events.

“He’s blocked by all my children and myself,” Kimora said of her decision to block Russell on Instagram. “We don’t engage with him. We don’t talk to him. We haven’t spoken to him on months – many, many months … probably going on years,” the fashion mogul added.

Kimora went on to say, “He has been blocked for quite a very long time but yet continues to post messages like, ‘We’re friends, We’re comrades, We’re there.’ He posts all old pictures of my kids. Basically, in my humble opinion, he’s delusional and living some kind of lie.”

Aoki Lee Simmons took to Instagram on Monday to also share her thoughts about her father’s recent behavior. “Some of us do think he’s mentally ill or experiencing something like dementia,” the 20-year-old shared. “He really acts like he hates and does not know his children frequently,” Aoki continued.

“Prior to his media issues he was a really the best dad ever and a great co-parent,” the young adult told her supporters. “He and my mom were best friends. We all defended him against anything, and then he suddenly turned on ANYONE who will let him lash out. It’s a really just terrifying change to watch.”

In addition to commenting on the strained relationship her daughters presently have with their father, Kimora Lee Simmons also gave insight into her decision to adopt her son, Gary.

“I’m the single mom of five kids, one of whom I adopted,” the celebrity mom said of her family dynamics. “Gary, my handsome football player,” she went on to explain. “That was a personal adoption, meaning we know the family. Gary’s dad actually works for Russell, too, and is probably underpaid and can’t afford his life to much. So I stepped in there to adopt and help raise that child.”

Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons have two kids, Aoki and Ming, together. Ming Lee Simmons graduated from New York University (NYU) weeks before her younger sister graduated from Harvard University. Both of Russell and Kimora’s daughter are pursuing careers in modeling like their mom.
