KISS rock legend Gene Simmons was involved in a car crash on October 7 in Malibu, California, after reportedly losing consciousness behind the wheel. The 76-year-old’s Lincoln Navigator crossed several lanes of traffic before hitting a parked car.

His wife, Shannon Tweed, shared a critical health update, attributing the incident to a recent change in his medication and dehydration. Simmons was taken to a hospital but has since been released and is recuperating at home.

What Did Gene Simmons Wife Shannon Tweed Say About His Health Condition

A Medical Emergency Led to the Car Crash

As per the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the crash took place around 1 p.m. on the Pacific Coast Highway. Simmons informed deputies that he had fainted or lost consciousness while driving. His vehicle swerved across multiple lanes before colliding with a parked car. The rocker was transported to a local hospital for treatment as a precaution.

Authorities noted the driver “might have suffered a medical emergency before the crash,” This detail was later clarified by his wife, who pointed to a specific health-related cause.

Medication Change and Dehydration Caused the Incident

Shannon Tweed explained that doctors had recently changed Simmons’s medication and instructed him to drink more water, something the rocker reportedly avoids doing. This combination of new prescription and insufficient hydration likely led to him losing consciousness at the wheel. Tweed’s update provided critical context, transforming a simple accident report into a cautionary tale about managing medication side effects and staying properly hydrated, especially for older adults.

Following the crash, Simmons was taken to a hospital for evaluation but was quickly discharged. His wife confirmed he is now recuperating at home. True to form, the KISS icon left a voicemail for NBC 4 stating he was doing fine. A representative for Simmons later told Rolling Stone that the bassist was “totally fine from this minor fender bender,” and Billboard reported he was “already back to work”.

The Rocker Called the Crash a “Slight Fender Bender”

Demonstrating his characteristic humor, Simmons took to social media to reassure fans. He posted on X, “Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us [who are] horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

This message downplayed the severity of the event and shifted focus to his self-deprecating admission about his driving skills, effectively calming public concern.

Who Is Shannon Tweed, the Woman Behind the Rock Star?

Shannon Tweed is a Canadian model and actress who first gained fame as Playboy’s Playmate of the Year in 1982. She has appeared in more than 60 films and several television series, including Falcon Crest and Days of Our Lives.

Tweed has been with Simmons since 1983, and after 28 years together, the couple married in 2011. They have two children and previously starred in the reality TV show Gene Simmons Family Jewels. In this recent incident, she acted as the primary source of information for the public.
