Kris Busching died on April 9, 2020, as a result of a hiking accident in Mee Canyon, Colorado. He was hiking with his dogs and a friend when they got lost for three days.

They ran out of food and water and faced harsh weather conditions. On the third day, they found a cliff that they thought would lead them to safety.

However, as they were climbing down, Kris slipped and fell about 60 feet to the ground. He suffered multiple blunt force injuries that proved fatal.

His friend managed to call for help using a satellite phone that Kris had brought with him. A rescue team arrived and airlifted Kris’s body and his friend to a hospital.

His dogs were also rescued and reunited with his family. The coroner ruled Kris’s death as an accident with toxicology still pending.

His family held a private funeral service for him and scattered his ashes in one of his favorite hiking spots.
