Matt had a natural aptitude for coaching and teaching. Many of the students, athletes, coworkers, and friends he met during his life will miss him. 

Matt enjoyed coaching football at McMaster and Cathedral High School and playing football at Western. Matt enjoyed watching sports, especially his four kids participating in their favorite activities. 

He was a die-hard supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Cleveland Browns. Matt and his wife Tara enjoyed attending their children’s sporting events, listening to live music, and playing with their dog Rosie.

The tragic passing of Matthew Chiarot has left his family in deep sorrow. As they struggle with the unbearable pain of bidding goodbye to their darling Matthew, their hearts are heaving with sorrow.

On September 27, 2023, a service will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church (20 Idlewood Avenue, Hamilton, ON L8T1V9).

In addition to his wife Tara (Herzinger), his children Taylor (Jay), Ben (Jacqueline), Josh, and Aaron, as well as his siblings Gordon (late Claudia), Katherine (Stephen), and Mary (Bryan), he is also survived by his grandsons Emmerson and Kellan. His cousins, nieces, and nephews are also left behind.
