Melissa Curtis, a former teacher at Montgomery Village Middle School in Maryland, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor and sexual offenses.

She has been charged with one count of sex abuse of a minor and 14 counts of third-degree and fourth-degree sex offense.

The maximum penalty for sex abuse of a minor is 25 years in prison, while the maximum penalty for a third-degree sex offense is ten years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

The police investigation began on October 4, 2023, when the victim contacted the police and reported that he had been sexually abused by Curtis when he was a student at Montgomery Village Middle School.

The victim said that Curtis initiated contact with him through social media and text messages and then invited him to her home, where they had sex for the first time.

The victim also said that Curtis would pick him up from school or his home and drive him to her home or his home, where they would have sex again.

The victim said that he felt pressured by Curtis to continue the relationship and that he was afraid of the consequences if he stopped.

The police obtained a search warrant for Curtis’s phone and found evidence of communication between her and the victim.

They also interviewed other former students of Curtis, who confirmed that she had inappropriate interactions with them as well.
