Michael Nicholson Biography – Michael Nicholson Wiki

Michael Nicholson is the acting Chief Executive Officer of Celtic Football Club. He was appointed to the Board of Celtic plc as acting Chief Executive Officer following the stepping down of Chief Executive Dom McKay on September 10, 2021. Nicholson joined Celtic in May 2013 as Company Secretary and Head of Legal. He was promoted to Director of Legal and Football Affairs in 2019.

“He has been at the centre of executive decision making at Celtic during his time at the club, working directly with the Board, the Chief Executive and the Football Department. Michael carries the confidence of the Board and his colleagues. He is widely known and highly regarded in football circles in the UK and in Europe,” the club said in a statement.

Celtic Chairman, Ian Bankier said: “It has been my pleasure to work closely with Michael for more than 8 years now. Having been at the heart of the senior executive and reporting to the Board, he has a solid grip on how to achieve our immediate and future objectives.

“Michael is an absolute team player and he will lead an experienced and talented team of executives and colleagues at Celtic. Everyone at Celtic will of course work collectively and focus strongly on ensuring we continue to drive the club forward in every area, on and off the field. The Board, Ange, our management team and all our staff will continue to work together with the ultimate objective, as always, of delivering success for our supporters.”

Prior to joining Celtic Football Club, Michael Nicholson worked at Harper Macleod LLP as a Partner from March 2002 to March 2013, and as a Solicitor from October 1998 to March 2002. He was also a Council Member of The Law Society of Scotland from March 2012 to April 2013. He has been an Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport since July 2019, according to his Linkedin profile. He is on the Scottish FA’s Professional Game Board alongside the likes of Mike Mulraney, Ian Maxwell and Neil Doncaster, the Scottish Sun reported.

Nicholson was educated at St Aloysius College in Glasgow, studied law at Glasgow University, and did a Masters in Construction Law at Strathclyde University. He also has two additional qualifications from the renowned Harvard Business School in the United States.
