According to reports, Sakevi Yokoyama, the frontman of the hugely popular Japanese hardcore band G.I.S.M., has reportedly passed dead.

G.I.S.M. was one of the first Japanese hardcore bands established in 1981. They issued Detestation, their debut album, in 1983, and M.A.N. (Military Affairs Neurotic), their follow-up, in 1987.

Before splitting up, they nearly 15 years later released SoniCRIME TheRapy, their third and last studio album.
Relapse gave its first-ever fully authorized reissue of the album in 2020, and the band was also honored in 2021 to mark the 20th anniversary of guitarist Randy Uchida’s passing with a tribute livestream featuring members of Fucked Up, Integrity, Poison Idea, Tortoise, and more.
The band gained a cult following and became highly influential. It also reached a wider audience than ever.
