Subha Nagalakshmi Munchetty-Chendriah also known as Naga Munchetty, is a British television presenter, newsreader, and journalist. Naga is currently working as a present at BBC Breakfast. Formerly, she worked as a presenter of BBC World News and BBC Two’s weekday financial affairs program Working Lunch.

Munchetty was born and grew up in Streatham, London, England. She attended Graveney School in Tooting before attending the University of Leeds, where she majored in English. She then went on to complete a master’s degree in Newspaper Journalism, which led to her first work writing for the city pages of The Evening Standard and The Observer. Naga started her journalism career as a reporter for Reuters Financial Television, then she moved to CNBC in Europe as a senior producer. Naga also worked as a business producer and reporter for Channel 4 News and a presenter on Bloomberg Television.

From 2008 to 2010 Munchetty worked at Working Lunch. She has also hosted Radio 4’s Money Box. She also reports from the City for BBC News, gauging the reaction to breaking financial stories such as the Budget, and the Pre-Budget Report. Moreover, she has worked for BBC News Channel and BBC World News. She is also a regular presenter on BBC One’s Breakfast. In September 2010, she co-hosted ‘The Spending Review – The South Today Debate’ on ‘BBC One’ along with Sally Taylor. That same year, she also presented ‘Paranormal Investigation: Live’ to celebrate Halloween which aired on the UK television channel ‘Sky Witness,’ which was formerly known as ‘Living.’

Additionally, she narrated the BBC documentary Fear and Faith in Paris looking at anti-Semitic attacks in Paris and their impact on the Jewish community of France. Moreover, Naga participated in the British television quiz show ‘Celebrity Mastermind’ in which she becomes the winner. The show was aired on January 2, 2013, on ‘BBC One. In June 2016, she replaced Sian Williams as presenter of Sunday Morning Live on BBC One. Munchetty also presented an episode of Newsnight on BBC Two.

Prior to that, Naga also took part in the fourteenth series of the British television dance contest ‘Strictly Come Dancing”.She paired with Pasha Kovalev and was voted out in week four of the show. Likewise, She co-presented Britain’s Classroom Heroes with Sean Fletcher in October 2017. Moreover, Munchetty was cast in CBBC sketch show Class Dismissed playing a fictionalized version of herself as a Media Studies teacher who acts like a newsreader.

From January 2021 Munchetty became the presenter on the 10 am to 1 pm Radio 5 program on Mondays to Wednesdays replacing Emma Barnett. who moved to Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. In 2022 Munchetty appeared on the BBC quiz show The Weakest Link. Aside from her TV career, Naga began golfing in 2008 and now plays off a handicap of nine. She also ran the London Marathon in 2013 and cycled 100 kilometers for Ride the Night in 2015.
