Neha Paswan was a teenage Indian girl who was reportedly beaten to death for wearing jeans.

Such cases in India are stirring up the internet. Needless to say, the condition of Asian women is getting worse despite the rise in awareness and literacy.

The incident showcased how women and girls are treated in the patriarchal society. A NY Times report suggests that 20 women on average in India are killed annually for bringing insufficient dowries. 

Neha Paswan Parents & Age: How Old Was She? 

Neha Paswan’s parents are her mother Shakuntala Devi Paswan and her father Amarnath Paswan. 

Judging from the reports, her mother seems to be a housewife, and her father is a day laborer on construction sites in Ludhiana, a town in Punjab. Neha’s father worked incredibly hard to pay her school fees.

Neha, whose age was 17 years old at the time of her death, will undoubtedly be missed by her endearing parents. Her mother has said that Neha dreamed of being a police officer, but now her dreams died with her.

After the incident, her father returned home to deal with the tragedy that had befallen him.

Neha Paswan Killed: Are Her Killer Arrested?

Neha Paswan was killed by members of her extended family in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh just because she wore jeans.

Apparently, she was severely beaten with sticks by her grandfather and uncles. The physical assault started due to an argument over her clothes at their home in Savreji Kharg village in the Deoria district. 

As a result of the beating, Neha was left unconscious.

Later, some concerned family members called an autorickshaw and said they were taking her to the hospital. However, her mother wasn’t allowed to accompany them, and the next morning, she was found hanging from the bridge over the Gandak river.

Police authorities eventually filed a case of murder and destruction of evidence against 10 people, including Neha’s grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and the auto driver. Further, four people including, the grandparents, an uncle, and the auto driver, are arrested and under questioning.

Although the case isn’t completely solved, the killer is likely to be arrested.
