Pete DeJoy is the co-founder, chief product officer, and interim CEO of Astronomer. He was named interim CEO of the $1.3 billion AI company on July 19, 2025, following the resignation of Andy Byron after being caught canoodling with head of HR Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert at the Gillette Stadium in Boston.

“Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave,” the company announced in a statement on X.

The company added in another statement: “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

DeJoy has worked at Astronomer since August 2017 as part of an incredible founding team. He has also worked there as a vice president of product from January 2023 – May 2023 and a senior vice president of products from May 2023 – February 2025. He was promoted to Chief Product Officer in February 2025.

DeJoy co-founded Astronomer in August 2017. According to his LinkedIn profile, DeJoy “did whatever it took to bring the first incarnations of our commercial offerings to market and build our business. This phase of the company was mostly centered around zero-to-one product development, but also included a few short stints in corporate development, sales, and engineering.”

DeJoy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics from Bowdoin College, a liberal arts school in Brunswick, Maine, that comes with a $64,910 tuition price tag.
