WWE veteran R-Truth has sparked speculation about a potential new heel faction on SmackDown following a recent social media post. The 53-year-old star made his return to WWE at Money in the Bank last month after previously being released following his feud with John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event in May. However, strong fan backlash prompted Triple H and WWE officials to bring him back.

This time around, R-Truth appears to be reinventing himself. No longer the lighthearted comic relief character, the former 24/7 Champion is now portraying a more intense and focused persona. Aware that he is in the final phase of his in-ring career, R-Truth seems determined to leave a lasting impact.

In a recent Instagram post, R-Truth shared a selfie alongside Angelo Dawkins, Montez Ford (The Street Profits), and former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. The caption read:
“Let’s go where we going.”

The post has ignited fan speculation about the possibility of a new faction forming on SmackDown. With heel groups such as Solo Sikoa’s MFT and Seth Rollins’ latest stable finding success, a new alliance featuring R-Truth at the helm could be a strategic move, benefiting all members involved.

Currently, R-Truth is not tied to any major feud. He recently picked up a victory over Aleister Black on SmackDown, pulling off an upset win via roll-up. Meanwhile, The Street Profits lost their WWE Tag Team Championship last week to Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of the Wyatt Sicks. Carmelo Hayes, too, is not engaged in any ongoing storyline and was last seen competing in the King of the Ring quarter-finals on the June 13 edition of SmackDown.

With all four stars free of major rivalries, the formation of a new faction led by R-Truth could inject fresh energy into the brand and offer fans an exciting new narrative to follow.

WWE Legend Mark Henry on R-Truth’s Exit and Return

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently commented on R-Truth’s brief release from the company. Speaking on Shak Wrestling, Henry suggested that WWE’s management didn’t want to deal with the fan backlash that erupted after Truth’s exit.

“WWE did not want that smoke,” Henry said. “They didn’t want the fans asking, ‘This is a guy who was number one in t-shirt sales — you’re getting rid of him?’ This is someone who, even with limited matches, got just as big a reaction as the champion when facing John Cena. I challenge you to name another wrestler this year who got that kind of reception with so few appearances.”

Former SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya also praised R-Truth’s enduring popularity, emphasizing how deeply connected he remains with the WWE Universe.

As R-Truth hints at forming a new faction and prepares for the next chapter in his career, fans eagerly await what the veteran has planned for the blue brand.
