Next Gen NYC’s Ariana Biermann and Riley Burruss shared new insights into their mothers’ current relationship, which has evolved positively after a rocky past.
During a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Ariana and Riley discussed the current dynamic between Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss. While the former stars of The Real Housewives of Atlanta have not yet reunited, the friends from Next Gen NYC are eager to facilitate a meeting between the two women.
“But I know my mom wants to, you know, reconnect and we all want to do like a dinner or something together,” Riley said in the interview.
Ariana stressed the importance of her and Riley’s presence during the potential reunion of Kim and Kandi. They are waiting for both women to be in the city simultaneously before arranging a get-together. Ariana expressed optimism that she and Riley can play a significant role in helping the women reconcile. “I believe we could play a key part in bringing them back together,” Ariana shared.

It’s unclear what their current status is, but Kim’s appearance on RHOA Season 15 brought the pair’s decade-old drama to the surface. While having dinner with Shereé Whitfield, DeShawn Snow, and Lisa Wu during Season 15, Episode 9, Kim reflected on her relationship with Kandi after they hugged at Porsha Williams’ wedding.
When asked if the hug meant they squashed their beef, Kim said “just because I hugged her doesn’t mean I squashed it.”
Kandi reacted to the moment on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “As far as her saying [we had beef] — what beef? Girl, we don’t have a beef.”
“No, we don’t [have beef], because the last time I saw her, she was extremely nice, and she was acting like I was coming up to her. She was saying, ‘Oh girl, come on, let’s hug, that was so long ago,’” Kandi added. “She was saying that to me, and I was glad to reciprocate because I don’t have a wish to keep that going, you know what I’m saying?”

Ariana and Riley met up in New York City for the first time in over ten years during Season 1, Episode 2 on Next Gen NYC. Both Ariana and Riley, who grew up in Atlanta, were nervous to meet up because of their parents’ falling out. “I honestly don’t know what it’s gonna be like to see her, or if we’re gonna, like, vibe,” Ariana said in the episode. “It feels weirder because we do know each other, but we don’t at the same time.”
Fortunately, the girls hit it off. They both agreed that whatever happened between their moms shouldn’t affect their friendship. “I called my mom before [meeting you] …” Riley told Ariana. “But she was like ‘don’t let what went on between me and her mom affect y’all, like y’all are completely different, y’all are adults.”
“Our mom’s stuff, I don’t feel like is our stuff,” Ariana added.
The pair has only gotten closer after their reunion, with Riley helping Ariana acclimate to living in New York City.

Although the two friends love their moms, both hope to build a name separate from their parents. Next Gen NYC has become a way for the girls to step into their own spotlight. “I hope people are intrigued to see us kind of go out on our own and just be our own people and not just Kim Zolciak’s daughter. You know, and Kandi Burruss’,” Ariana told The Daily Dish.
“And I think it’s nice because this is gonna be the time where we can be Ariana Biermann and Riley Burruss, not someone’s daughter.” Riley added.
