The romance between conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and his wife, Erika Kirk, was both profoundly significant and, unfortunately, ended all too soon. Their relationship, which began in an unexpected manner, played a major role in their public personas, rooted in shared beliefs and joint efforts.

How Erika and Charlie Kirk Met: Their Story Unfolded
Erika and Charlie Kirk crossed paths in 2018, yet their initial encounter wasn’t a typical date. Instead, a job interview swiftly transformed into the beginning of a much deeper connection. The pair met at Bill’s Burgers (believed to be Bill’s Bar & Burger) in New York City, where Charlie posed questions to Erika about philosophy, religion, and politics.
Following their profound conversation, Charlie recognized her uniqueness. He later shared with their daughter, “I was asking all these questions… then I realized Mama was beautiful, smart, elegant, and Christ-like, so I said, ‘Forget this job interview, I want to date you.’ I have enough friends.” Erika reflected on their five-year anniversary in 2023, recalling how Charlie paused and declared, “I’m going to date you.” That moment signified the beginning of their journey together.
Their Engagement and Wedding
Their relationship grew with purpose. In December 2020, Charlie proposed to Erika. She shared their engagement on Instagram with, “When God writes your love story, you get to marry your best friend.” Less than a year later, in May 2021, they got married in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Erika and Charlie Growing Their Family
Erika and Charlie welcomed their daughter in August 2022 and a son in May 2024. Erika often talked about Charlie’s love as a father and husband, saying he would ask, “How can I serve you better? How can I be a better husband? How can I be a better father?”

A Public Partnership and Teamwork
Their partnership was more than just private; Erika, a former Miss Arizona USA and entrepreneur, was often with Charlie at events and on his podcast. Together, they shared their views on marriage and working as a team.
A Tragic Loss and a Continued Legacy
The Kirk family faced tragedy on September 10, 2025, when Charlie was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. Following this heartbreaking event, Erika showed great strength and faith.
At Charlie’s memorial, she publicly forgave the accused shooter, saying, “I forgive him because it is what Christ did. The answer to hate is not hate.”
She also promised to continue Charlie’s work and was named CEO and chair of the board of Turning Point USA in September 2025, carrying forward the movement he created.
