The decision to file for divorce is never an easy one. There are always many factors to consider. Well, Sister, Sister alum Tia Mowry recently opened up in an interview with HelloBeautiful saying that her children were a major part of her decision to divorce 43-year-old Cory Hardrict.

“A part of my decision [to file for divorce] was also for them. For them seeing their mother walk in truth, I feel like it’s a great lesson for them because it was not an easy decision,” Mowry said.

She continued, “It was one of the hardest decisions that I had ever had to make in my entire life. But if they see that mommy can do it, that mommy, no matter what people say, no matter, even if there’s some sort of doubt, whatever, mommy pushed through. [They can say] my mommy is living and chasing her truth. I want my children to do that. That’s the best gift I can give them.”

Mowry is unquestionably living life as an example for her children to follow. The 44-year-old mother continued in the interview saying that she wants her children to know that “it is okay to chase your joy,” just as she has made the decision to do so.

“I want for them not to live a life that I want them to live, for them not to live a life that everybody else wants them to live or what they think that they should be or live,” Mowry said.

She added, “I want them to see that it is okay to have a bad day. I want them to see that it is okay to chase your joy. I want them to see that it is okay to live your truth.”

Mowry and Hardrict made their decision to separate and divorce, after 14-years of marriage, public in October 2022. As they are on the precipice of finalizing the process, the pair have agreed to uphold a previous agreement to share legal and physical custody of their children.

Additionally, the pair have made a final decision on introducing their children to significant others. Per documents, both parties have to wait at least six months and have to be in an exclusive relationship with a romantic partner before the children are allowed to meet new partners.

Mowry and Hardrict share two children: 11-year-old Cree and five-year-old Cairo.
