Alasdair MacKay is a distinguished Scottish screen printer and artist, now making his mark in London, England. Renowned for his expertise on BBC1’s The Repair Shop, he is also the visionary behind Manson’s Press, a studio dedicated to traditional printmaking, gilding, and sign writing, located in Aldersbrook, London.
Since 2012, MacKay has honed his craft as a screen printer, and in 2016, he established Manson’s Press. Initially, the studio focused on creating high-quality fine art screen prints as commissions for artists. Recently, MacKay has expanded his repertoire by incorporating unique printing and gilding techniques to develop his own original works.

In 2020, MacKay tied the knot with his wife, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Isobel Aoife MacKay, in March 2021 in London. On April 1, 2021, MacKay joyfully announced the arrival of his daughter on social media, stating, “The apprenticeship starts now! Little Isobel Aoife MacKay was born on Monday. My wife is my absolute hero! I am lost for words!”

Alasdair MacKay’s contributions to The Repair Shop as a screen printing expert were highlighted in series 14, episode 25. He collaborated with a talented team including paper conservator Angelina Bakalarou, horologist Steve Fletcher, woodworker Will Kirk, paint conservator Lucia Scalisi, and the endearing “Teddy Bear Ladies,” Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell.
In Episode 25, Alasdair helps horologist Steve Fletcher and woodworker Will Kirk to get a very broken regulator clock back to its very best. The precious heirloom was the dearest possession of Abdul’s father, who had been gifted it by a much-loved friend. Passed down to Abdul on his father’s death, the clock sadly didn’t survive the passage from India, and it is now in a pitiful state, leaving Abdul racked with guilt.
