The former American professional road racing cyclist, Floyd Lanid, was born on October 14, 1975. He turned professional in 1999.

Lanid had an outstanding career. He won four stage races in major tournaments. He bested the first race he ever participated in.

The cyclist was set to become the third non-European winner in the 2006 Tour de France. However, when he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs, he was disqualified.

Mennonite forbids its followers from wearing shorts. A Mennonite cannot wear shorts, which affected the early cycling career of Landis. He could not wear shorts while riding his bike.

During his childhood, Landis was determined to be a cyclist. He used to take part in local races. As he was forbidden from wearing shorts, he raced wearing sweatpants.

Racing while wearing sweatpants is not comfortable at all. Despite all of that, Landis became a successful career in cycling.

As mentioned above, Floyd Landis was born to their father, Paul Landis and his mother, Arlene Landis. His family played a significant part in shaping his life and career.

Paul and Arlene were blessed with two kids. Floyd was the oldest Landis sibling. It can be assumed he was naturally responsible and looked after his brother Robert.

Floyd showed his interest in cycling from a very early age. Paul tried to dissuade his son from following through with his passion as he thought it a “useless” endeavor. Paul gave him extra chores to discourage him from becoming a cyclist.

However, that did not stop Floyd. He snuck out of the house at night to practice. Later, his father encouraged his passion when he started showing promise. Later, Paul became one of the biggest fans of Floyd.

In addition, Floyd has been married to Amber Basile for an incredible 22 years, commencing on February 10, 2001. The couple has a 25-year-old daughter, Ryan.

The private life of the Landis family has not been disclosed. Considering how Ryan’s career ended, their need for privacy is understandable.
