“I’ve seen my Mom and Dad struggle to adjust to life without a child. In spite of tremendous pain, I’ve watched my brother and little sister develop into extraordinary people.

According to news sources from 2010, Andrew perished in a two-car collision that happened while he was returning home after Kansas high school soccer practice.

Hurd thinks about how much he would have liked for Maren Morris, another country music star, to have met Andrew.

Hurd had the privilege of writing a biography about his brother Andrew. In it, he described Andrew as a devout Christian who cherished his relationships with his family, friends, school, soccer, and the community.

On August 23, 2010, 16-year-old Gardner, Kansas resident Andrew Kellow Hurd passed away.

Parents James Byron and Kimberly Lynn Kellow Hurd welcomed Andrew into the world on June 18, 1994 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. At the time of his death, he was 16 years old.

He was a junior at Gardner Edgerton High School when he relocated to Gardner two years prior.

Andrew was a member of the tennis team, played bass in the orchestra and jazz band, was a student leader at Fellowship Bible Church.

He also served as co-captain of the GEHS soccer team, was vice president of student council, was on the honour roll, and played soccer for the Blue Valley Star Club.

Playing games, hanging out with friends, and seeing his family were things Andrew enjoyed.
