After the deadly riot on January 6, he had revealed that his wife welcomed him home and tried to hug him for comfort.

But he pushed her away as he was filled with chemicals from the near life-taking riot that led to some more emotional moments.

Gonell is one of the four key testifying officers in the Insurrection hearing today.

He had put his life on the life against riot on January 6 in front of the US Capitol.

The devastating violence that day was caused by the supporters of former president Donald Trump.

The rioters aimed at overturning Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election against the current president Joe Biden. Their goal was to disrupt the electoral votes counting which was in the favour of  Joe Biden’s victory.

As of today, Gonell still suffers from physical difficulties and an unmeasurable amount of trauma caused by the riot.
