Gucci ad featuring Harry Styles in toddler ad sparks backlash amid Balenciaga controversy

Harry Styles and Gucci are raising eyebrows online with their recent ‘HA HA HA’ campaign ad photos.

In one of the pictures, Styles is seen posing alongside a toddler-sized mattress while dressed in a t-shirt that had an angry-looking teddy bear printed on it.

For those unversed, Gucci’s ad campaign comes a few weeks after its sister brand Balenciaga got involved in a child imagery scandal.

Meanwhile, Styles starred in the ad campaign in a variety of outfits and different props. However, it is important to note that the images were published on 2nd November, which is several weeks before Balenciaga’s ad controversy.

Moreover, in one of the images, the 28-year-old artist is shown caressing and carrying a child-sized mattress. Also, there is a follow-up video where Styles seemingly appears to be dressing and undressing.

Netizens react to Harry Styles’ Gucci campaign

Multiple users have taken to Twitter to point fingers at ‘disturbing symbolism’ in the recent Gucci ad campaign that features Harry Styles.

Furthermore, Controversial social media personality and Twitter user @OliLondonTV discussed the campaign in a social media post.

He said, ‘Harry Styles is wearing a T-shirt with Rabbits (symbol of P*dophilia) he also has his pants unzipped Coincidence. Or are they laughing in our faces?’

In addition, Alexandra Gucci Zarini, the great-granddaughter of Gucci’s founder, Guccio Gucci, also condemned the ad.

She shared pictures of Styles in the campaign and outlined the post with a caption that read, ‘@gucci Why would you create a ‘performance piece’ with a toddler’s mattress and an adult man?’

Additionally, she continued, ‘My concerns are that there seems to be a common ideology across Kering’s Fashion Houses.’

Meanwhile, many other users shared their dissatisfaction over Gucci’s ‘HA HA HA’ campaign ad photos.

A user wrote, ‘What in the Balenciaga is going on here? Wake up, people!’

Another chimed in saying, ‘Why is a toddler bed in this? Why the teddy bear shirt? What is the angle? Aside from strange?’

Someone else shared, ‘Why does #gucci have Harry Styles, a grown man posing with a child’s mattress and a pink teddy bear t-shirt? I’m not loving this.’
