Who Is David Moyes?

 

David William Moyes was born on April 25, 1963, to Joan Moyes and David Moyes Sr. in Glasgow, Scotland.

He is the Premier League club West Ham United’s manager, and he is a Scottish professional football manager and former player. Prior to managing Sunderland, he was in charge of Preston North End, Everton, Manchester United, Real Sociedad, and. Moyes won the League Managers Association Manager of the Year award in 2003, 2005, and 2009. Additionally, he serves as an executive member of the League Managers Association committee.

He started out as a coach at Preston, progressed to assistant manager, and then assumed management in 1998, his first managing role.

Preston was crowned Division Two champion under Moyes in 1999–2000, and the following year, they advanced to the Division One Play-Off Final.

In March 2002, Moyes succeeded Walter Smith as Everton’s manager. The team under his leadership finished fourth in the league in 2004–05, which was their greatest placing since 1988, and participated in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds the next season for the first time since 1970–71.

Additionally, under Moyes, Everton finished as runners-up in the 2008–09 FA Cup, which was their finest showing since winning the trophy in 1995.

At the time of his departure, Moyes was the manager in the league with the third-longest tenure behind Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. Under his leadership, Everton consistently finished between fifth and eighth in the league.

After Manuel Pellegrini was fired in December 2019, he was chosen to lead West Ham United for a second time. West Ham has become more competitive overall during his second tenure, earning two straight top-seven Premier League finishes before he guided the team to victory in the 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League, defeating Fiorentina in the final to win the club’s first significant trophy in 43 years.
