Harry Maguire, an English professional footballer who plays center back for Manchester United of the Premier League and the England squad, was born on March 5, 1993.

Before rising to the first squad in 2011, the 29-year-old football player at Sheffield United went via the youth system. He played 166 times in the club’s league and was named Player of the Year three times in a row. He also made the PFA Team of the Year for League One several times. He was purchased by Hull City for £2.5 million in 2014, then in 2015, Hull City loaned him to Wigan Athletic. He signed up with Leicester City in 2017 with a $12 million signing bonus.

Two years later, he moved to Manchester United for a fee believed to be £80 million, a world-record amount for a defender, and within six months was appointed the club captain.

In 2012, Maguire took part in one game for England’s under-21 team. He made his senior debut in October 2017 and was selected for England’s squads for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, 2022 FIFA World Cup, and UEFA Euro 2020, earning a spot in the latter tournament’s Team of the Tournament.

Maguire was raised in the adjacent village of Mosborough after being born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Joe and Laurence, two of his brothers, are also football players. He went to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic High School in Chesterfield and Immaculate Conception Catholic Primary School in Spinkhill. Maguire was a central midfielder for Sheffield United’s youth team from the age of 7 to 16.
