Sarah Caroline Sinclair Colman was born in Norwich on 30 January 1974 known professionally as Olivia Colman.
The actor from England is the daughter of Keith Colman, a chartered surveyor, and Mary Colman, a nurse.
Among her many honors are an Academy Award, four BAFTA Awards, two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmys.
She received her private education at Gresham’s School in Holt, Norfolk, and Norwich High School for Girls.
Colman attended Homerton College in Cambridge for a term before transferring to the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School to study drama, where she earned her degree in 1999.
Colman’s big break came from the 2003–2015 Channel 4 series Peep Show. Green Wing (2004–2006), That Mitchell and Webb Look (2006–2008), Beautiful People (2008–2009), Rev. (2010–2014), Flowers (2016–2018), and Fleabag (2016–2019) are some of her other comic television performances.
Colman won the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA Award for the crime series Accused (2012) and the Best Female Comedy Performance BAFTA Award for the comedy series Twenty Twelve (2011–2012).
She won the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress for her work in the ITV crime drama series Broadchurch (2013–2017), and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress went to her for her work in the BBC One thriller miniseries The Night Manager (2016).
In the Netflix historical drama series The Crown, she portrayed Queen Elizabeth II from 2019 to 2020. For her role, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress and the Golden Globe Award. Les Misérables (2019), Landscapers (2021), and Heartstopper (2022–present) are among her other television credits.
Colman won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her depiction of Anne, Queen of Great Britain in the 2018 historical black comedy The Favourite. In 2020 and 2021, she was nominated for two more Academy Awards for her roles in the plays The Father and The Lost Daughter.
