A 14-year-old Arizona girl who was found dismembered earlier this month reportedly vanished from a group home that has a lengthy history of missing person cases.

Pike’s remains were found in bags off Highway 60 in Globe on Valentine’s Day, weeks after she vanished from Mesa on January 27. Pike was from the San Carlos Apache reservation, a former roommate at Pike’s group home told KPHO, and that she came to the area because better mental health resources were available.

KPNX reported that there have been 30 missing person cases at Pike’s group home in the past three years. The group home, which was not publicly identified, houses children between the ages of 7 and 17. The home also accepts referrals from the Department of Child Safety and Tribal Social Services.

Information regarding Pike’s death was leaked to the public late last month via a memo from Gila County police and social media. The memo indicated that Pike’s head and torso were found in bags.

Pike’s arms and hands are reportedly still missing. An autopsy indicated she suffered facial and head trauma.

The former roommate claimed that Pike lived at the group home on two separate instances. She also claimed that Pike had run away before, according to KPHO.

Meanwhile, police told the news outlet that a group home manager reported Pike’s disappearance.

“I feel like she just ran away, and she was trying to hitchhike back to her reservation to see her parents, and she just got picked up by the wrong person,” the former roommate said.

No arrests have been made.
