Last month, a 15-year-old from Indiana faced murder charges after allegedly shooting his father and great-uncle in a tragic incident that occurred in August.

On October 29, Jeremiah Dill’s legal proceedings took a significant turn when his case was transferred to adult court. He now faces prosecution for the deaths of Grantham Chandler, 43, and Jeffrey Fauber, 61. According to WTHR, authorities discovered the bodies of the two men in the driveway of a residence in Quincy on August 9.

As Indiana State Police prepared to investigate the scene, they received news that Dill had voluntarily surrendered. He reportedly confessed to Martinsville police, stating, “I killed my family.” Dill also mentioned that the weapons used in the shootings were located in a car that was missing from the scene.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a handgun and a loaded AR-15, with its safety mechanism disengaged.

Dill allegedly expressed to the police, “I’m fighting demons,” as reported by WTHR.

Dill reportedly has a history of mental health issues, including an instance in which he underwent in-patient treatment after he threatened to kill his family.

According to WBIW, a witness described Dill as “uncharacteristically helpful” the morning of the murders. The witness also claimed Dill had recently threatened to kill the family.

It was during that recent incident when Dill told police that he planned to kill his father and that he knew where the guns were in the home. Dill was released from psychiatric care on August 7 — two days before the murders.

The Department of Child Services got involved after the threats were made. WBIW reported that his family had been ensuring the guns were locked away, but it is unclear how Dill accessed them on August 9.

Dill’s trial is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2026.
