GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the early hours today, authorities apprehended 19-year-old Jacob (also known as Jordan) Ramon Gonzalez. He faces charges of child abuse following an alleged unprovoked assault on a young male along West University Avenue.
Gainesville Police Department officers, who were on patrol around 12:58 a.m. on January 17, witnessed Gonzalez chasing and engaging in a physical altercation with a juvenile in the 1700 block of West University Avenue.
According to the young victim, Gonzalez approached him without warning and began shoving and hitting him. During the altercation, Gonzalez reportedly broke a chain the victim was wearing.
While Gonzalez claimed to have been knocked unconscious and unable to recall the incident, officers observed that he remained combative and showed no signs of having been unconscious while they were on the scene.
Two witnesses reportedly said they saw Gonzalez walk up to the victim and say something about his TikTok videos. The witnesses said they saw Gonzalez repeatedly punch the victim in the face while the victim tried to back away and defend himself.
An officer noted that both Gonzalez and the victim had bloody lips, and the victim had blood on his clothing.
Gonzalez has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm. He has no local criminal convictions; a recent misdemeanor battery case (2026) is listed on the court website, but no details are available. Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $1,000.
