In a harrowing incident in California, authorities have accused a young woman of a fatal shooting involving a single mother. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Elvia Johnson, is wanted in connection with the tragic death of 19-year-old Niliyah Montgomery. The San Bernardino Police Department made a public appeal on Wednesday, seeking assistance in locating Johnson.

The case centers around a violent altercation that took place earlier this month. According to reports, a dispute erupted on the 1600 block of Concord Street in San Bernardino on February 1st, around 5 p.m. Although details about the cause of the confrontation remain murky, it is known that the argument took place outside Montgomery’s residence.

As tensions appeared to settle and Montgomery began to return to her home, the situation took a deadly turn. Johnson allegedly got into a vehicle and fired a single shot, which struck Montgomery in the back, ultimately leading to her death. Authorities have now issued a warrant for Johnson’s arrest, emphasizing that she is considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting has captured the attention of both law enforcement and the community, as they work together to bring justice to Montgomery’s family. The San Bernardino Police Department continues to urge anyone with information to come forward as they piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

The fight appeared to have ended, and the victim was walking back into her house, but Johnson “entered a vehicle and fired a single gunshot striking the victim,” the police department said. Montgomery is said to have been struck by the bullet in her back.

“My baby come running into my arms saying, ‘Mom.’ With blood coming out her mouth,” the victim’s mother, Tasha Montgomery, told the local outlets, recounting the harrowing moments. “She was everything to me. That’s my child, my firstborn. She made me a mother.”

Officers were called to the scene, and the victim was brought to an area hospital, where she “succumbed to her injuries,” police said.

Montgomery was the single mother of a 3-year-old girl, according to her mother, who said her daughter had returned to school to better her life after dropping out when she was pregnant.

The San Bernardino Police Department is imploring anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts to come forward and speak with them by calling the numbers on their press release.

San Bernardino is located about 60 miles east of Los Angeles in California.
