A Nevada woman, who had recently expressed fears of her ex-boyfriend spying on her through her window, was tragically shot and killed alongside a friend she had invited for protection.
Briana Flowers and Anfernee Pollard, both 31 years old, were found dead on January 28. The discovery was made by Flowers’ 7-year-old son, Amill, who then dialed 911. According to a press release by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, officers arrived at the scene at 7:20 a.m. Both Flowers and Pollard were found with severe injuries and were still alive upon the police’s arrival.
In a press conference carried by local NBC affiliate KSNV, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Homicide Lt. Robert Price said the case was being investigated as a double homicide.
No suspect has been officially identified, but local Fox affiliate KVVU reported that Flowers had previous altercations with her unnamed ex-boyfriend. Friends and family shared with KVVU that just a week before her death, on January 21, Flowers had contacted the police after her ex-boyfriend allegedly assaulted her, necessitating medical attention.
Shatiera Davis, a close friend of Flowers and godmother to her son, revealed to KVVU that Flowers had confided that her ex had “tried to kill her.” In the days preceding her death, Flowers reportedly informed Davis of her belief that her ex was peeping through her blinds while she slept. Flowers recounted to Davis, “I looked out my window and someone was staring at me.” She claimed to have seen a man flee and enter an Uber, suspecting it was her ex-boyfriend.
The exact nature of the relationship between Pollard and Flowers was not clarified by law enforcement, but friends indicated to KVVU that Flowers had asked people she trusted to stay with her for added security. Pollard was among those friends who answered her call for support.
KSNV reported that the Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identities of Flowers and Pollard. Their causes of death were gunshot wounds, and the manner of death for both was ruled homicide.
A GoFundMe was set up to help support Amill after the loss of his mother.
Police said the investigation into Flowers’ and Pollard’s deaths was ongoing, and officials urged anyone with information to contact the Las Vegas Metro Police Homicide Section by phone at 702-828-3521, or by email at [email protected].
