GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alexander Pitts Zabowski, 38, was arrested yesterday after allegedly pulling a knife on a family member.
At about 6:20 p.m. on January 20, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a house where a caller said two men were fighting and one had pulled a knife.
The officer reported that the two men had been in a verbal argument earlier, but they separated. Later, the victim reportedly knocked on Zabowski’s bedroom door to ask for his shoe, and Zabowski allegedly opened the door but immediately initiated a “tussle.”
Zabowski allegedly grabbed a knife from his bedroom and held it in his hand, then put the victim in a headlock and dragged him to the living room. At one point, Zabowski allegedly raised the knife to stab the victim, but the victim grabbed the knife and stopped him. The victim was reportedly trying to get away from Zabowski during the fight but was unsuccessful; two other residents of the house reportedly pulled Zabowski off the victim.
Post Miranda, Zabowski reportedly admitted that he had gotten into a physical fight with the victim and had pulled a knife on him.
The victim sustained a minor laceration to his hand.
Zabowski has been charged with simple domestic battery and domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has a juvenile history between 2000 and 2004, 10 adult felony convictions (one violent), and six adult misdemeanor convictions (none violent). Judge Kristine Van Vorst ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.
