HILLSBOROUGH, Fla. – Dakeyan “Dré” Cha Dre Graham, 39, was arrested for driving under the influence in Hillsborough County on February 3, 2024. Graham is the Director of Educational Equity for Alachua County Public Schools.
According to the arrest report, Graham was pulled over at about 11:30 p.m. on February 2 on N. Dale Mabry Avenue in Greater Carrollwood for speeding and failing to maintain a lane. A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy wrote that Graham “emitted the odor of an alcoholic beverage from his breath, lethargic in nature, slurred speech at times and bloodshot watery eyes.” The deputy noted “impairment [was] observed” during Field Sobriety Exercises, and both breath samples reportedly measured at 0.125 g/210L, well over the legal limit of 0.08 g/210L.
Graham was taken into custody and released after posting a $500 bond. His next court date in the case is March 27, 2024.
Graham also received a speeding ticket in Alachua County on May 8, 2023.
According to Alachua County Public Schools’ website, “Before joining Alachua County Public Schools, Dr. Graham, the 2020 Florida Teacher of the Year and Christa McAuliffe Ambassador for Education, served as the Executive Director for the Office of Independent Education and Parental Choice and the Bureau of School Improvement. During his time in the classroom, he taught as the Director of Instrumental Studies for more than a decade at his alma mater, C. Leon King High School in Tampa, FL.”
