Colorado police have arrested a woman whose husband allegedly killed their 13-year-old adoptive son on Sunday.

Cesar Delgadillo, 39, reportedly beat the teen boy for hours at their Butler Township residence after two children in the home claimed the boy sexually assaulted them. Video footage from inside the home showed Virginia Delgadillo, 34, witnessing the deadly beating, according to WVIA.

Cesar Delgadillo reportedly used a back scratcher, an electrical cord, and a rubber hammer to beat the teen. WVIA reported that he also jammed the back scratcher down the boy’s throat during the attack, which continued after his wife went to sleep.

The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after police responded to his home on Monday morning. An investigation uncovered that Cesar Delgadillo inflicted various injuries — including stab wounds — to his son’s chest, back, head, and hands, according to WOLF.

The Delgadillos reportedly have one biological child and five other children in the home between the ages of 5 and 16. Four of the children interviewed by police had injuries similar to those on the slain boy, according to WNEP.

Virginia Delgadillo allegedly called 911 after putting clean clothes on the unresponsive boy — which investigators believe was an attempt to hide his injuries. The Times Leader reported that blood was found throughout the residence despite the home reeking of bleach.

According to the publication, Virginia Delgadillo claimed her husband drank alcohol Sunday into Monday and has apologized.

An official with Luzerne County Children, Youth, and Family told WVIA that the agency did not place the children with the Delgadillos. However, he declined to disclose which counties were involved.

Cesar Delgadillo was charged with homicide, child endangerment, tampering with evidence, and obstruction. Virginia Delgadillo was charged with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and tampering with physical evidence.

The Delgadillos remain jailed without bond. Their surviving children are in the care of Luzerne County Children, Youth, and Family.
