An Alabama jury reached a verdict on Wednesday, finding a man guilty of sexually abusing a child in an incident dating back to 2022.

As reported by AL.com, the jury spent four hours deliberating before reaching a decision to convict 38-year-old Christopher Parker on charges of rape and child sexual abuse. Parker was apprehended by Blount County authorities in 2022 following reports that he had sexually assaulted two children under the age of 12.

District Attorney Pamela L. Casey, as noted in a report from WBMA, stated that Parker engaged in the use of marijuana and methamphetamine at the location where the abuse occurred. It was revealed that Parker often stayed overnight at the residence, which gave him access to the young victims.

During the trial, evidence was presented indicating that Parker assaulted one of the victims while she was asleep on an air mattress. The abuse came to light when the victim confided in her grandfather, who was acting as her guardian.

With previous convictions for burglary and theft, Parker is facing a minimum sentence of 99 years in prison, as mandated by Alabama’s Habitual Felony Offender Act. His sentencing is set for January 20, 2026.
