An Alabama man was arrested this week and charged with 41 counts of sex crimes, two of them the sexual torture of a child under the age of 12.

Kevin Burgett’s victim appears to have been a relative, as one of the charges against him is incest, WBMA reported.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office said that Burgett faces 15 counts of sodomy, 14 counts of rape, 7 counts of sexual abuse, 1 count of sexual torture, and 1 count of attempted sodomy in addition to the incest and sexual torture of a child charges.

Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey confirmed that the victim was a female relative and said that Burgett raped the girl 14 times over seven years, beginning when she was 7 years old, including sodomizing her 15 times over a 20 month period, according to WVTM.

“I can’t imagine ever harming a child. I can’t imagine the thought process that goes into sexually abusing a child,” Casey said.

Burgett is being held on a $1.5 million bond and is due in court on March 5.
