Authorities in Arizona are actively searching for a teenage girl who mysteriously disappeared on Saturday. The City of Mesa Police Department has initiated a statewide Turquoise Alert for 16-year-old Yolyn Hermios, whose sudden absence has raised concerns.

Hermios was last seen around 6:50 p.m. local time in the vicinity of Dobson and Broadway Road in Mesa. Her family is deeply worried, as her extended disappearance is uncharacteristic, according to police statements.

At the time of her disappearance, Hermios was dressed in red shorts, a black shirt, and black shoes. She is described as a Pacific Islander, standing at 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 110 pounds. Distinctive features include her brown eyes and brown hair, which has green faded highlights.

She’s described as a Pacific Islander who stands 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs around 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair with “green faded highlights,” according to police.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Turquoise Alert, also known as “Emily’s Law,” was named after 14-year-old Emily Pike, who was found murdered earlier this year after vanishing from a Mesa group home.

“The goal of the Turquoise Alert is to locate the missing endangered person through efficient information dissemination and communication that results in the safe and expedient recovery,” ADPS said.

“The Turquoise Alert system is cited as “Emily’s Law” to honor and memorialize the life of San Carlos Apache Tribal member, Emily Pike.”

Anyone with information on Yolyn’s whereabouts should contact 911.
