An Arizona resident is in legal trouble after allegedly attacking her partner during Thanksgiving.
Tamala Rudeseal, aged 52, was taken into custody following accusations of cutting her boyfriend’s throat. She now faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault, according to the Mesa Police Department as reported by Oxygen.
On November 27, police responded to an incident at an apartment complex in Mesa, situated roughly 20 miles from Phoenix. Rudeseal was apprehended at the location, and her boyfriend of 11 years was swiftly transported to a local hospital, according to police reports.
The victim required emergency surgery to address a throat wound, but authorities have indicated he is likely to recover.
According to KTVK, citing court documents, Rudeseal allegedly admitted to a 911 operator that she had cut her boyfriend’s throat.
The outlet also reported that Rudeseal was heard saying, “I did just try to murder you” and “today is my Independence Day.”
At the scene, investigators discovered a large folding knife near where they first found Rudeseal, according to 12 News.
No details have been shared by authorities surrounding the alleged victim’s identity.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office told Oxygen that Rudeseal’s case is “currently under review by our office,” with no other statements available at this time.
Rudeseal’s boyfriend—who allegedly controlled the bleeding from his wound with a shirt—suffered from a deep cut that extended from his left ear to the center of his neck, per KTVK’s reporting.
Speaking with detectives, the man claimed Rudeseal often becomes depressed around the holidays and that they had argued leading up to the alleged attack, according to the outlet.
When investigators asked Rudeseal whether she attempted to kill her boyfriend, KTVK reported that her alleged reply was, “Yes. God, I hope he is dead; it’d be a favor to me, his wife, and his children.”
Rudeseal also allegedly told responding officers that her boyfriend, “Does not do anything around the house,” per 12 News.
