A woman from Alabama faced indictment last month over accusations of attempting to murder her husband by contaminating his meals with fentanyl.

As reported by WBRC, 75-year-old Sara Baker allegedly adulterated her husband’s food or beverages on three separate occasions in September 2025. Baker, who served as an attorney in Cullman County, found herself under arrest by November of the same year.

Cullman police have disclosed that Baker collaborated with at least one other individual to execute the poisoning scheme. Prosecutors suspect that Baker obtained the fentanyl from another person for the incidents in September, as well as one episode in November 2025, according to WTTO.

A 39-year-old woman, who is a witness in Baker’s legal proceedings and also one of her clients, was implicated. This client was charged in August for tampering with evidence by ingesting fentanyl in a case where Baker was her defense attorney.

Before these events, Baker had also worked as a lawyer for the District Attorney’s Office. Following her arrest, the Alabama Bar Association suspended her license within a month.

Baker was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempt to commit murder, second-degree domestic violence, second-degree elder abuse, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and solicitation to commit a controlled substance crime. Her bail was set at $400,000.
